RSGT Bangladesh Ltd. is a subsidiary of London-based Red Sea Gateway Terminal International (RSGTI), operating the newly constructed Patenga Container Terminal at the Port of Chittagong, as RSGT-Chittagong. The 22-year terminal concession was signed in 2023 with the Chittagong Port Authority under an equip/operate/transfer agreement. RSGT Bangladesh is the first international container terminal operating company to be granted a concession by the government of Bangladesh.

RSGT Bangladesh is honored to have been awarded a 22-year concession for the Patenga Container Terminal at Chittagong Port, the newest marine terminal facility in Bangladesh. We are particularly proud to have become the first international container terminal operating company to be given the opportunity to begin operations in the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

 

Chittagong Port, strategically situated in the Bay of Bengal, plays a pivotal role in Bangladesh’s global logistics network, particularly for its thriving apparel export sector. Collaborating closely with the Chittagong Port Authority and other industry stakeholders, RSGT Bangladesh is poised to further expand the port’s capabilities. The company plans to invest up to USD $170 million in additional improvements to the Patenga Container Terminal, introducing more cutting-edge technology and infrastructure. This investment will not only strengthen the port’s efficiency but will also create valuable employment opportunities for the local workforce, contributing to Bangladesh’s economic growth.

The investment in RSGT-Chittagong will include state-of-the art Ship-to-Shore cranes, container handling equipment,  advanced Terminal Operating System software, and extensive training for our expanding local staff. Our team of dedicated professionals will enable RSGT Bangladesh to set new world-class standards of operational excellence and terminal productivity for the Bangladesh maritime and logistics Industry. RSGT Bangladesh is also committed to creating a positive impact on the local Chittagong community and environment, by establishing new standards in health and safety performance, job creation, and sustainable operations.

Jens Floe

Member of the Board

Jens Floe is a seasoned executive with an extensive background in the logistics and maritime industries. He currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT), a prominent terminal operator with facilities at Jeddah Islamic Port in Saudi Arabia and Chittagong Port in Bangladesh. Mr. Floe assumed the role of CEO at RSGT in October 2016 and holds a concurrent position as a non-executive Board Director with companies within infrastructure and supply chain. Over the course of his career spanning three decades, he has demonstrated a profound understanding of global port and terminal operations and management, particularly in the development and leadership of Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs).

Before joining RSGT, Mr. Floe held the position of Senior Vice President and Regional CEO at ICTSI, a Manila-based global terminal operator. His professional journey began with the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, where he progressively advanced through various senior roles. Notably, he served as the Head of Business Development Africa and Middle East for APM Terminals. Additionally, he assumed the role of CEO at APM Terminal’s Suez Canal Container Terminal in Port Said East, Egypt.

Under Mr. Floe’s leadership, RSGT has achieved significant growth and currently holds the distinction of being the largest terminal operator at Jeddah Islamic Port and within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His leadership has also led to the expansion of RSGT’s international operations .

Originally from Denmark, Mr. Floe completed his undergraduate education at the Dania Academy of Higher Education. He furthered his education by earning an Executive MBA from IMD in Switzerland, supplemented by coursework at IMD, INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in the USA.

Jesper Kjaedegaard

Member of the Board

Jesper Kjaedegaard has more than 40 years of maritime experience. He was CEO of The Maersk Company Ltd until 2009, after which he spent 9 years as a Partner with Mercator Intl, a leading global maritime consultancy specializing in ports and vessel network planning. He currently serves as a Non-Executive Board Director/Advisor for a number of both listed and privately owned transport related companies in Europe and the Middle East. Jesper Kjaedegaard is also past President of the UK Chamber of Shipping and Chairman of Maritime UK. In 2011, he was awarded the Freedom of the City of London. Jesper Kjaedegaard is a graduate of the A.P. Moller Shipping Academy and holds a degree from Copenhagen’s Commercial College. He has also attended Harvard’s Advanced Management Program.

Ranjith Powell

Member of the Board

PIF is one of the world’s largest Sovereign Wealth Funds with USD 620 Billion Assets under management. Responsible for transaction execution of Ports and Transport Infrastructure investments to promote the kingdom as a global center for transport and logistics services connecting 3 continents, Europe, Africa and Asia. Member of Board of Directors, Saudi Global Ports Company (SGPC). 

Role at PIF

  • Building and leading the Ports & Transport Infrastructure team with Transport & Logistics.
  • Ranjith is a member of a number of shipping & ports Boards of Directors, including Saudi Global Ports (JV between PIF & Port of Singapore Authority).

Previous experience

  • 25 years Operating and Strategic M&A roles in P&O Ports, DP World, Emirates Airline as well as Investment & portfolio management and portfolio management at Abu Dhabi SWF, ADQ. Led the IPO of Abu Dhabi Ports on Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.

  • Law Degree–Australian National University (1995).
  • Masters in Transport & Logistics–Cranfield University, UK (1998).

Aamer A. Alireza

Member of the Board

A graduate of Pitzer College, California, USA with a BA in Economics and Political Science. Also attended numerous management executive programs.

A Board Member of the Xenel Group of Companies, Chairman of the Executive Committee and Managing Director.

Chairman of the Board of Sustained Infrastructure Holding Company (SISCO Holding), a public joint stock company, and Executive Chairman of its two subsidiaries – Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT) and LogiPoint.

Previously worked at Chevron where he held several positions including Marketing Manager for Chevron Overseas Petroleum, Inc. in Kazakhstan and London, and Business Development Manager for Chevron’s Eurasia Business Unit, and at OILspace as Managing Director of Marketing for Middle East Operations.

Abbas Bukhari

Member of the Board

26 years of experience Mr. Bukhari is the Group Chief Financial Officer of Red Sea Gateway Terminal A senior executive with international experience through multiple leadership positions in Maersk and APM Terminals CFO, Strategy and board experience in establishing and leading several PPPs for green/brownfield container terminals across EMEA and LATAM.

Badrulhisyam Fauzi

Member of the Board

Graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in Computing from Imperial College London, Badrul is also a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder of the CFA Institute. Additionally, he is a Chartered Global Management Accountant being a Fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA) as well as a member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

Badrul currently is an Executive Committee member and Director of MMC Port Holdings Sdn Bhd (MMC Ports) and sits on the boards of its maj or port operators in Malaysia namely Johor Port Berhad in Pasir Gudang, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd in Port Klang, Port of Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP) in Johor and Tanjung Bruas Port Sdn Bhd in Melaka.

Soren Hansen

Member of the Board
